SMMA is pleased to announce six new shareholders at the firm: Abe Brahmachari, Lucas Carriere, Anne Fontaine, Michael Reid, Jennifer Soucy, and Ellen Swanson.
The newly promoted group is drawn from a wide range of expertise across SMMA’s interdisciplinary model, including project management, architecture, and structural engineering.
“Shareholder promotions recognize outstanding accomplishments and leadership potential within SMMA,” said Lorraine Finnegan, CEO and President. “These promotions represent the diversity within our team—a team that makes us stronger through their differences and our regard for their distinct contributions.”
Abe Brahmachari is a Senior Associate, project manager, and architect who joined SMMA in 2021. “Abe is a dedicated professional who builds lasting connections with clients in the Government market,” said Finnegan. “With his friendly, down-to-earth personality and dedication both to clients and project team members, he is always seeking opportunities to enhance our reputation.”
Lucas Carriere is a Senior Associate and senior project designer who joined SMMA in 2023. “Lucas is a talented designer whose commitment to advancing SMMA’s design excellence knows no bounds,” said Finnegan. “His calm demeanor and meticulous approach bring clarity and confidence to every collaboration. Lucas’s ability to seamlessly contribute to a diverse range of projects shows his adaptability and dedication.”
Anne Fontaine is a Senior Associate and senior project architect who joined SMMA in 2010. “Anne is an integral member of our Architecture team, the Providence team, and the firm as a whole,” said Finnegan. “Her outstanding leadership – not just as a project architect at SMMA but also the broader professional community in Rhode Island and Massachusetts – is widely recognized by all.”
Michael Reid is a Senior Associate and senior project architect who joined SMMA in 2021 . “Mike is the consummate mentor in our Architecture team,” said Finnegan. “He empowers his teams to excel in their work and sets high standards through technical excellence and strategic leadership. Mike’s commitment to collaboration and innovation strengthens SMMA’s reputation at the highest level.”
Jennifer Soucy is a Senior Associate, project manager, and architect who joined SMMA in 2007. “Jenn has thrived in her leadership transitions over the past few years,” said Finnegan. “She leads multiple K-12 school projects in Manchester and provides senior leadership in our newly opened New Hampshire office. Jenn’s dedication to our firm’s growth and uncovering new opportunities is evident in all she does.”
Ellen Swanson is a Senior Associate and senior structural engineer who joined SMMA in 2024. “Ellen made an immediate impact in our Structural team, bringing energy and purpose while mentoring teammates and building strong connections across disciplines,” said Finnegan. “Her technical know-how, outstanding communication, and collaborative spirit truly set her apart as a key contributor to our firm.”
