Graphic Design

From the built environment to the digital realm, graphic design delivers memorable experiences. At SMMA, our team of graphic designers tells human-centered stories that advance your organization’s goals and values.

These experiences are not limited to a feature wall, or the page of a brochure. They include any interaction with your people: with a brand, a space, a data dashboard, and more. Whatever the platform, we find ways to convey information in a compelling and memorable way.

Graphic design is about connecting with people—creating experiences that evoke emotions, spark thoughts, and inspire action.

We ask clients the questions that matter: What are you most proud of? Who is your audience? What message do you want them to take away?

Every organization—be it a K-12 school, a company, or a community—has a unique identity. Our job is to distill this through graphic design that inform, teach, and inspire.

Experiential Graphic Design

Experiential Graphic Design (XGD) showcases your identity—what makes you different from the rest.  It can elevate a space when working in tandem with architectural and interior design elements to evoke specific feelings or improve aesthetics and functions of a space.

“Graphic design is intended to create an experience, whether in a static or interactive visual format. These experiences are the culmination of a process of inquiry, exploration, collaboration, and rigorous planning. We need to think strategically to develop innovative design solutions.”

For our school clients, we foster growth and learning by capturing the unique history, values, and aspirations of your community.

UI/UX Design

We design interactive tools that help clients, building users, and local communities feel connected to ongoing design projects. This includes custom websites for school building projects, dashboards depicting data in district master plans, and customizable workplace tools that help businesses make better real estate decisions.

The bigger and more complex the project, the more need for simplification.

We scour large data sets to find compelling stories that inform, inspire, and change perspectives. Working hand-in-hand with our design technologists, we then turn these data stories into visualizations and infographics, so project stakeholders can find the information they need.

Our process in brand development starts with curiosity and exploration: of the client, their audience, and the goals of the brand. Our messaging and design is inspired by this understanding and the foundation of our brands.

Strategy and Research

We begin by thoroughly understanding your vision, goals, culture, and target audience. This research will guide the strategy that sets you apart. This phase encompasses developing your brand architecture, engagement strategies, and overall brand positioning.

Messaging and Design

Your brand identity is the external representation of your organization, consisting of a blend of visual and written components that consistently interact and reinforce each other. These brand elements are multifaceted, collectively conveying a range of ideas that reflect your essence.

Brand Interaction

The most powerful part of a brand is how people engage with it. We offer a wide range of creative services designed to connect your audience with your brand through impactful deliverables. Our expertise extends to comprehensive copywriting and editing, photography, and video and animation production. We specialize in infographics, brochure and sales material, signage and experiential graphics, web design, email and social media campaigns.
