SMMA is pleased to announce two promotions to the role of Principal: interior designer Emily Modoono and civil engineer Erin Prestileo.
The promotions were confirmed last week by CEO and President Lorraine Finnegan at a company all-hands meeting. Principals at SMMA are individuals who have achieved significant career milestones, blending leadership, ownership, and strategic influence.
“Our newest Principals exemplify the client focus, quality, and calm, confident delivery that define SMMA,” said Finnegan.
Emily Modoono, a senior interior designer who joined SMMA in 2008, specializes in dynamic workplace environments from conceptual design and programming analyses to space planning, furniture and material selection, lighting design, and code compliance. Her recent project leadership work includes Entrada Therapeutics’ new Headquarters in Boston and Olympus’ U.S. Medical Headquarters in Westborough, MA.
“Emily is more than a design leader—she guides clients to thoughtful, well‑crafted solutions across a diverse range of workplace projects,” said Marie Fitzgerald, Senior Vice President and Director of Interior Design. “She brings a clear design point of view and a natural leadership presence that elevates both the work and the teams around her. I look forward to seeing Emily’s continued growth.”
Erin Prestileo, a civil engineer who also joined SMMA in 2008 and has served as Director of Site Design since 2022, leads teams responsible for site layout, grading, utility and sanitary system design, stormwater management, and plan detailing. She has led the firm’s site design efforts on major K-12 school projects including Somerville High School and Waltham High School.
