Anthony Jimenez Joins ACE of Greater Boston’s Board of Directors

Anthony Jimenez is an Associate and Electrical Engineer at SMMA. In addition to his project work, he has been involved in the ACE Mentorship program since his first year at the firm in 2013. He was recently invited to join ACE of Greater Boston’s Board of Directors.

The ACE Mentorship Program provides free afterschool programming, with the intention of raising awareness of high school students to opportunities in Architecture, Construction and Engineering. SMMA is one of the thirty-plus firms in the Greater Boston area that participates in the Boston chapter and hosts the program in our office, providing mentorship to a team of students from five Cambridge-area schools. For the past year, Jimenez had served as the Team Lead, managing the entire program for SMMA’s student participants, including interactions with Program and Scholarship Committees, teaching, communicating with mentors and students, and more.

When discussing his path to engineering and the draw to be a part of the ACE Mentorship program, he says:

“Both my mom and my dad immigrated to the US, so my sister and I are first-generation. Our parents were all about education – it was the number one priority. As a result, it drove me and gave me a path that led me to where I am today.

Any opportunity that I have to educate people, specifically those with interest in STEM, I take seriously because I think it's important. I'm proud to be a part of ACE, and I'm happy to be able to continue keeping it moving forward and keeping it healthy.”

Brian Lawlor, an SMMA Principal and ACE of Greater Boston Board member shared:

“Brian Postlewaite and I nominated Anthony to the Board because of his dedication to the program and his commitment to students.  We have both worked with Anthony at ACE since he started mentoring in 2013 and we are very excited about the impact he will have on the broader program. Because of his dedication, personality, and engineering expertise, Anthony is loved by students, mentors, and parents. We are very pleased that Anthony will have the opportunity to broaden his influence and share his ideas and energy across the program.”
