SMMA has announced two promotions to the role of principal: architect and Design Technology Manager Dave Darling, and Director of Administration Heather McCormack.
CEO Ara Krafian announced the promotions last week at a company all-hands meeting.
An architect by training, Darling joined SMMA in 2010 and now leads the firm’s Design Technology practice. “Dave has a unique ability to bridge the gap between disciplines at our firm”, said Krafian. “He’s built a team that not only tackles day-to-day tasks but also actively explores the future of design technology, seeking tools and processes to elevate our work in both quality and efficiency.”
“Dave’s leadership helps us compete at the highest level in this industry with technology as the cornerstone of our design practice. Aside from his technical prowess, his contributions to SMMA’s culture are invaluable. Dave is a champion for collaboration, fostering a positive and supportive environment where everyone’s voice is heard.”
McCormack, who recently celebrated 30 years at SMMA, serves as the firm’s Director of Administration. “Heather and I have worked together for more than three decades, and her contributions to our firm cannot be overstated.” said Krafian. “In many ways she leads our Cambridge and Providence offices, taking care of major board business, managing office renovations, and helping us run this successful operation.”
“Heather keeps our workplace ticking. What’s more, many of our initiatives, from the SMMA Fund scholarships to professional development programs, would simply not happen without her.”
Congratulations to Dave and Heather on their promotions!
