The new workplace serves a diverse group of financial professionals.
The design meets the company’s corporate standards, with a local twist. The chosen materials draw from Boston history, evoking the atmosphere and impression befitting a global leader in wealth management.
The design weds grandeur with personalized space for each business line.
Each department had unique requests and compliance needs. In response, the design team crafted spaces that offer both customization and fluidity.
Consistency is met by aligning the company’s specifications for office sizes, furniture, color palettes, and materials. Common corridors transition seamlessly from warm to cool tones, connecting the different personalities of office spaces with the main Client Center on the third floor.
The new Client Center defines the building’s third floor.
Upon stepping off the elevator, clients are greeted with a lobby framed by expansive bay windows with views of Boston Harbor. Modeled after the company’s Client Center in New York, the space features marble powder rooms, decorative drapery, a library with eight-foot-wide pocket doors and built-in bookshelves, a lounge and waiting area, and intimate conference rooms.
A reception desk with walnut wood undertones evokes a boutique hotel ambiance. Its back-painted glass has a slight champagne hint, while a Calacatta gold marble top lends a timeless feel. White and cream-lacquered wood panels harmonize with deep brown marble, dark bronze metal, and stone elements found throughout the building.
To complete the client-facing Boston branch, the design integrates the city.
SMMA worked closely with a fellow design firm to customize a standardized set of framed, black-and-white photographs through a series of prominent and easily recognizable Boston landmarks and icons.
