Lyme Properties - 675 West Kendall

Overview

SMMA in association with Steven Ehrlich Architects, provided shell and core design for a 290,000 sf, six-story life sciences building. This facility includes corporate office space, bio-technical laboratories, support spaces, and ground level retail.

The Lyme Properties project is a distinctive, mixed-used building that is part of the development in Kendall Square. Overall, the development includes ten acres of publicly accessible open space; 700,000 sf of life science office,research and development labs, a luxury hotel, condominiums, performance and movie theaters, retail space and extensive public amenities including restaurants, landscaped parks, an outdoor skating area, and a small boat facility.

The building incorporates such unique materials as a terra-cotta rain screen system and structural glazing which are fresh approaches to the traditional exterior materials typically used throughout the region.
