Darling and McCormack Announced as Principals at SMMA
January 17, 2024
SMMA has announced two promotions to the role of principal: architect and Design Technology Manager Dave Darling, and Director of Administration Heather McCormack.
SMMA-designed Bancroft Elementary School in Andover has been selected by the Massachusetts School Building Authority for inclusion in its Model School Program, and was awarded the Elementary School Citation in American School & University magazine's 2016 Architectural Portfolio.
Members of Boston's Civic Design Commission and Redevelopment Authority recently voted in unanimous support of SMMA's 321 Harrison Avenue project, marking a critical step forward on the path to construction. The project comprises eight stories of offices atop an existing three-level parking garage in Boston's historic South End neighborhood.
Aimee Schefano, an interior designer primarily engaged in SMMA's Corporate and Commercial projects, spent the better part of this summer assisting the Boston Architectural College in improving the interior of its Newbury Street library. Aimee received her Master of Interior Design degree from the BAC in 2012, and has since spent five semesters at the College as an instructor, mentor, and reviewer.
For a few months every year, SMMA affords a select number of students—all aspiring architects and engineers—the opportunity to bring the knowledge and design skills they've acquired throughout their studies to bear on real-world commissions. Our interns gain hands-on studio experience, becoming part of project teams and learning lessons that go beyond the classroom.
