321 Harrison Avenue Approved by BCDC, BRA

321 Harrison Avenue Boston South End Office Building

Members of Boston's Civic Design Commission and Redevelopment Authority recently voted in unanimous support of SMMA's 321 Harrison Avenue project, marking a critical step forward on the path to construction. The firm has spent the better part of the spring and summer presenting to both bodies, as well as to the broader South End community, to garner the requisite approvals to advance the design from concept to reality.

The project comprises eight stories of offices atop an existing three-level parking garage, injecting a corporate and commercial component into a neighborhood undergoing a revitalization that has, to date, been primarily driven by residential and retail development.

During the meeting with the Boston Redevelopment Authority, representatives from the International Association of Iron Workers Local 7 and the New England Regional Council of Carpenters stood to provide endorsements, with the latter saying, "This a great project for an area that needs good development." 321 Harrison Avenue is being jointly funded by Nordblom Company and Rubenstein Partners LP, with CBRE/New England providing real estate services.
